- 1 Ib (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 3 cups broccoli florets
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional for richer flavor)
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ginger, grated
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- ¼ cup water or beef broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooked rice, for serving (optional)
Mernet beef:In a bowl, toss the chopped beef with 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1/2 tablespoons of cornstarch and a pinch of black pepper. Allow to sit for 10 minutes.
Blanch broccoli:Bring water to a boil, add broccoli, and cook for 2 minutes. Drain and set one side.
Cook beef:Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan or make a pan on medium-high heat. Beef slices are not sliced in batches until brown. Remove and set one side.
Make sauce:In a small bowl, mix the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and the remaining cornstarch with water or broth.
Alliance and finish:Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a single pan. Add the sauce and bring it to a boil. Return beef and broccoli in the pan. Toss to coat and cook the sauce until thick and is cooked through beef (about 3-4 minutes).
Relax and serve:Allow to relax for 5 minutes. If desired, serve hot on rice.
