1. Classic Chocolate Layer Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot coffee

  1. Turn oven to 350°F (175°C), grease and flour two 9-inch round pans.
  2. Mix dry ingredients.
  3. Add eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla; beat until smooth.
  4. Slowly add hot coffee and stir. The batter will be quite thin.
