Ingredients:

  1. 1 round 8″ cake (any flavor)
  2. 1 square 8″ cake (or brownie)
  3. Buttercream frosting (see base recipe below)
  4. Fondant (for tassel)
  5. Mini Reese’s or fondant button for the center
  6. Food coloring (school colors)

Instructions:

  1. To make both round and square cakes, bake and cool them.
  2. Spread frosting over the round cake, placing the square one (centered) on top of it.
  3. Apply colored buttercream to both layers of the cake.
  4. Mold a tassel from fondant; with your fondant or candy button, attach this decoration to the center point of the top layer.

  • 2 to 4 tablespoons of heavy cream or milk

Cake Base: Chocolate Layer Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1¾ cups (220g) all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup (65g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
  • ½ cup (120ml) vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (240ml) boiling water

Chocolate Buttercream Frosting:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3½ cups (440g) powdered sugar
  • ½ cup (45g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup (60ml) heavy cream or milk
  • 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

 Decoration (Stethoscope Theme):

  • Fondant (black, silver/gray, red, or blue)
  • Edible silver luster dust (optional for metallic effect)
  • Heart-shaped cookie-cutter (for chest piece)

Instructions:

1. Bake the Cake:

  1. Warm the oven to abou3500C°C  (175). Line and grease 2 8-inch round cake pans.

  2. Combine and sift in a large bowl flour, cocoa powder, sugar and baking powder, baking soda, with salt.

  3. Add milk and oil and some eggs, and vanilla. Beat smooth.

  4. Add boiling water ( mixing will be very thin).

  5. Separate pans and bake, 30-35min or until a toothpick comes out clean.

  6. Frost when quite cool.

2. Make the Buttercream:

  1. Have butter beaten up.

  2. Add sugar (in parts), salt, cocoa powder, and vanilla.

  3. Add cream gradually and beat to obtain a smooth and spreadable cream.
